Effective 7/19/23 Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks has put into effect Hoot owl restrictions (No Fishing from 2p - Midnight) on the Main Stem of the Bitterroot from Veterans Bridge upstream to the confluence of the East and West Fork of the Bitterroot. These restrictions will remain in place until lifted by FWP administrative action when water temperature does not exceed 66 degrees for 3 consecutive days AND adequate flows are present.

At this point the Main Stem of the Bitterroot below Veterans,  East Fork and West Fork of the Bitterroot or any tributary of the Bitterroot are NOT under any special closures. You can keep up to date on closures by visiting the MT FWP webpage: https://fwp.mt.gov/news/current-closures-restrictions/waterbody-closures

Now for the fishing portion. We are still seeing PMD's in the am and Goldens in the Afternoon. The terrestrial game is getting underway with small hoppers, ants and beetles all starting to turn some heads. Traffic on the river is starting to ease a bit with the lower flows, make sure to give your fellow anglers room to fish and always be courteous.

Our new shop hours for the rest of the Summer Season will be 7am - 6pm Mon-Fri and 7a - 5p Sat/Sun.

Be safe on the river as the flows drop new obstacles may exist. Keep your eyes looking down stream and get out and scout if you're unsure of a clear passage.
