Grew up in New Jersey, lived in Montana for 7+ years
Ed Kutt is a fly fishing guide with a deep passion for fly fishing and a strong connection to Montana's rivers. Originally from New Jersey, Ed has spent the last seven years in Montana, where he developed a deep appreciation for the state's natural beauty and the diverse fishing opportunities it offers. Specializing in the Bitterroot River, East and West Forks of the Bitterroot and Upper Rock Creek, Ed spends over 120 days a year on the water, guiding anglers and helping them hone their skills.
Guiding allows Ed to focus on providing personalized experiences for each of his clients. Whether you're just starting out or have years of experience, Ed’s approach to teaching is hands-on and patient. He enjoys not only the thrill of guiding clients to successful catches but also sharing his knowledge of the rivers and their ecosystems. Ed guides using his NRS Raft and RO Tailwater Skiff drift boat, ensuring that his clients get access to both well-known and hidden spots along these pristine waters.
One of Ed's favorite times of year is the Skwala hatch, which occurs in March and April. This period marks the arrival of spring, bringing with it a flurry of activity on the rivers and providing anglers with some of the best dry fly fishing opportunities of the season. For Ed, guiding during this time is especially rewarding, as it’s a perfect mix of beautiful weather, eager fish, and eager clients looking to make the most of the hatch.
When he's not guiding, Ed enjoys relaxing at his favorite local restaurant, Tin Can in Stevensville, where he often reflects on the day’s adventures. Ed’s commitment to his craft and to his clients is unwavering, making every trip on the river an unforgettable experience.
