Hi, I’m Fred Baldwin, and I’ve been fishing the “Root” for over 25 years. I’ve called Hamilton, MT home for the last five years, and I’m passionate about introducing anglers to the magic of the Bitterroot River. Whether it’s your first time on the water or you're a seasoned angler, I’ll help you navigate the river’s challenges and share in the excitement of landing a trophy fish.
I specialize in the West Fork, Main Bitterroot, and from Darby to the Florence Bridge—one of the most diverse and exciting stretches of river in the area. I love the art of fly fishing and helping clients get that perfect drift on their dry fly, especially when you’re hooked into a fat cutthroat. There’s nothing quite like seeing that joy when the catch is made!

- The Hecuba Mayfly: If you’re lucky enough to be here after June runoff, don’t miss the Hecuba Mayfly hatch (Bridlechute). It’s a fantastic time to be on the water, and I love seeing clients take advantage of this epic hatch.
