April 21st Fishing Report

Posted by Jeff Gray on

Morning folks. What a great week here in Western Montana. The river has stayed stable and the dry fly fishing has continued to stay strong in the afternoon. Finally starting to see more mayfly activity. March Browns, BWO’s, and Ameletus have been appearing daily but it’s still the stonefly variety that is getting most of the notice. If you play the dry or die game, expect it to be later than usual, although I expect that will improve with slightly warming conditions. It’s my estimation that the river will hold for the next several days and continue to give up some great fishing. Crowds have thinned out considerably so it’s a great time to be on the water. Be safe out on the water.

Flies to have in your Box this weekend:

A selection of Plan B’s 10-14, True Skwala, Rastaman Skwala, Millers Hi Viz Skwala, Bullet Head Skwala, Sparkledun BWO, Parchute BWO, Brindlechute, Parchute Marchbrown, Rubberleg 8-12, Rubber worms 10, Perdigons 14-18, Olive Dungeons, Sparkle Minnows, Black Buggers

Don’t forget we are open 7 days a week at 9am, stop by, stock up and head straight to the river. See ya out there.
